Carbon footprint per scope

Scope 1

  • Direct emissions at the mill for producing pulp and paper

  • Internal transportation

5 kg CO2e/tonne of paper

Scope 2

  • Purchased electricity from the grid

<1 kg CO2e/tonne of paper

Scope 3

  • Extraction, production and processing of raw materials (wood, chemicals, fuels, packaging)

  • Transportation of incoming raw materials

  • Delivery of the paper to the customers

  • Disposal of the paper and its packaging

419 kg CO₂e /tonne of paper

Scope 1: The direct CO2 emissions from the combustion of fossil fuels generated by the pulp and paper manufacturing at the Nymolla mill are captured and used for the production of precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) filler. The emissions reported for scope 1 are generated by the internal transportation.

Scope 2: Since 2008, the electricity purchased externally has been from low-emission sources, specifically nuclear power, with CO2 emissions of 0.0014 kg per tonne of paper.

The reduction of the carbon footprint for Multicopy NEXT will focus on the reduction of Scope 3.
